Snapchat Sinks After Rihanna Slammed ‘Tone Deaf’ Ad

Few days ago, Social Media Network, Snapchat ran an advert that asked its users if they’d rather ‘slap Rihanna’ or ‘punch Chris Brown’.
The advert was a reference to Brown’s 2009 conviction for physically assaulting his then-girlfriend,Rihanna.
According to Snapchat, it was “reviewed and approved in error” of which they had apologised .
Only Yesterday, Rihanna blasted the ‘ignorant’ advert via her Instagram stories.
She wrote: “ “Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there,
“But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this whole mess! I’d love to call it ignorance but you know I ain’t that dumb! You spend money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV [domestic violence] victims and make a joke of it!!! … Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away.”
And now about $800 million of Snap’s market value has been erased. Shares of the Snapchat app also dropped 3.6% to close at $17.20 right after the Pop star’s response, according to Wall Street Journal.
